Coating the MetalWork

As the rifle was to be installed in a Black synthetic stock, I decided to use a Stainless Steel "bake-on" coating from Brownells.

First, areas with small imperfections, Ý Ý Ý such as the rear sight-locating hole, were spot blasted.

The spot blasted areas were filled with a two-part epoxy and after curing, was sanded/filed smooth.

The caliber was stamped on the barrel chamber. LINK TO STAMPING JIG

Note the gob of epoxy just visible at the left edge of the photo.

Then the barreled action was media blasted with slag, and spray coated with Brownells Baking lacquer.

The sight bases and rings were coated as well.
