Twas a bad day, rainwise. The forecast was for statewide rain for the entire day, starting in the very early morning. As it was, the rain held off until the second relay began to fire it's first stage. The match was ended after that stage and after every (all six!!) competitors had fired 20 shots for record.

Above you can see John Gardner firing his Stevens 44 ½ in 38-55 cal using 350 (more or less) grain cast lead bullets ahead of a stiff charge of black powder.
This is Lorren Brown, also shooting a Black Powder rifle. It was Lorrens' intention to shoot his next 20 shots with a more "modern" rifle, but the rain won out. Those are the number boards in the distance, all eleven of them, and three targets below.
