In the early 1900's, the American Machinist
Magazine published an article titled "Determining Design Constants from
Practice'. This article proposed that design parameters for many devices could
be determined by sampling, and averaging the parameters used by contemporary
manufacturers of such devices. Then in it 1904 it published an article titled
"Gas Engine Design Constants and Formula" This article, as well as
many others, has been re-published by the famous house, LINDSAY PUBPILCTIONS INC,. in their publication titled Selected Articles
from American Machinist Magazine January-June 1904. This article can be
